Description
A useable
and practical classic; smart and tidy interior; timeless colour scheme and
distinctive styling
First registered in August 1970, this Austin 1800 AD017
'Landcrab' is a distinguished example of British motoring, combining
practicality with quirky charm. Powered by a 1.8-litre
inline-four engine producing around 75bhp, the 1800's sophisticated hydrolastic
suspension offers a smooth and comfortable drive, perfect for long-distance
cruising.
With a top speed of 90mph and
25-30 mpg economy, the Austin 1800 remains a reliable and enjoyable classic.
While production of the 1800 was phased out in favour of the Austin Ambassador,
this model retains a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts, admired for its
distinctive design, robust engineering and late-1970s British
Leyland ingenuity.
It has a flurry of
invoices, the most recent from June 2024 for a new boot carpet; in 2018 a new
fuel tank was fitted and in 2019 it looks as though the engine saw some
attention including a new head gasket, push rods and cam followers. It also has
a driver's handbook and a workshop manual.
Starting promptly, running and
driving nicely on site, this looks to be a perfectly useable example, with
some scope for cosmetic improvement here and
there.
