Description
The very first operational machine off the Guildford production line;
consigned direct from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service;
historic and collectable vehicle
The Dennis Sabre
was a fire engine produced by Dennis Specialist Vehicles of Guildford. They were
designed as a modern, versatile fire appliance, which quickly became popular
with fire brigades across the UK and abroad.
Powered by a
Cummins C Series turbocharged six-cylinder engine and driven by an Allison
five-speed automatic transmission, they were manufactured from 1995 until
2007.
This particular machine is being offered
for sale direct from the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service.
First registered in April 1995, it is known to be the very first
operational Sabre off the production line.
We
believe it was first used at Chippenham Station, then Malmesbury before becoming
a reserve vehicle and being used as part of the Safe Drive Stay Alive
publicity campaign.
Retaining its
original fire service livery with all the bells and whistles, this is an
ideal museum exhibit or would make a great addition to any emergency
vehicle collection. It's on offer at no reserve so the best bid takes it
home.
Bidders should be aware that although it
does start up with the help of a jump pack, there are some issues with the
gearbox so it will need to be transported from us, rather than
driven.
The successfull purchaser should also be aware that if one does
drive this vehicle on the public roads, all emergency service lights and livery
will need to be covered. Photo ID will also need to be shown to us on
collection.
