Description
AMENDMENT Only 47,800 miles with 15 services to date, the last less
than 400 miles ago when the cam belt was also renewed; current owner since
2015, an ex-Tyrrell racing driver from the 1960s
First
registered in February 2001, this Maserati 3200GT Automatic has covered only
47,800 miles to date and comes with a good service history comprising 14 stamps
in the book, the last at 43,556 miles in May 2015 when the cam belt and
tensioners were also renewed and the wishbone bushes were replaced. There is
another invoice for an oil change in 2019 and additional service in May 2021 at
47,426 miles when the cam belt and idler bearings were
renewed.
A good file of invoices details all
the servicing carried out and shows additional maintenance with various new
parts fitted over the years including a recored radiator and a full brake
overhaul in 2016; new starter motor and throttle body refurbished in 2010;
stainless steel sports exhaust silencers in 2007 which cost £947 plus fitting.
Finished in Azzuro Argentina with Avorio
leather, it has all the usual Maserati luxuries including heated front seats.
The V5C records 9 former keepers and it has been in the hands of the current
owner (a well-known Tyrrell Formula 3 driver in the 1960s, former teammate of
Jackie Stewart, and winner of the 1964 European Touring Car Championship) since
2015.
Supplied with its original handbooks in
the original leather wallet, it has 18 old MOTs, the last of which expired on
24th May this year with just one advisory for worn/pitted front brake
discs and it has only covered 200 miles since. An original 44-page 3200GT sales
brochure is also present along with a quality car cover.
As you
can see in the photos, this low-mileage Maserati looks most
attractive and has been starting promptly and running well as we have moved
it around on site with a rousing exhaust note.
NB: We did note that the
oil pressure gauge shows the full 5 bar on start up but when the car has warmed
up it drops to 2 bar and an 'Error oil' warning light comes on the dash (see
last two photos). There is some reference in the recent invoices to a faulty oil
sensor so this will obviously merit further
investigation.
AMENDMENT: We are advised by the vendor that the oil
pressure on this car has been checked by a Maserati specialist and is healthy.
The fault lies with the gauge. He also advises that there are spares worth
c.£1,000 in the boot including nearly new front brake discs; water pump; idler
etc.
