Description
Tidy example from 10 year ownership showing just 88,771 miles; huge
history file
Supplied new by Lotus Centre, London
in March 1992, this rather striking M100 series Elan SE Turbo is finished in
Blue with black Mohair hood and rides on a set of natty 17” 1000 Miglia alloy
wheels behind which lay drilled/vented discs at the front with red callipers and
greenstuff pads giving a sharp look to the car.
Under the wide, stubby snout, we find the 1.6 litre Isuzu 4XE1-MT
four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine which produced 162bhp
when new driving the front wheels via five-speed manual transmission. Performance was brisk, with a strong
power to weight ratio given its lightweight GRP body with the dash to 60 taking
just 6.5 seconds.
Inside, we find comfortable
cream leather piped anthracite, electric windows, electric mirrors, immobiliser,
power steering, digital clock and face-off radio/CD player. The roof on the Elan is manually
operated with cable pull release for the rear deck.
The car shows just 88,771 miles which have been covered by seven
former keepers and our vendor, who has owned the car for the last 10 years after
buying the car from Brightwells in March 2013 when it had covered 83,186
miles.
During his ownership, the car has been
enjoyed sparingly during the summer months but also treated to various works of
note including a brake overhaul, new gear cables by Paul Matty Lotus in 2013,
two new front tyres in 2022, a new battery in March 2022, and new OSF headlight
raising mechanism earlier this year.
Furthermore, there are two sets of keys and a new rubber for under the
front of the car.
The history file includes the
V5C, an old V5C, owner’s manual with service section showing an impressive 19
stamps plus a further 10 hand written entries. Entries of note include a timing belt
change in 2006 at 77,860 miles and head gasket replacement in 2003 at 72,250
miles.
Furthermore, the file also includes an
array of bills for parts and works undertaken during our vendor’s tenure plus
some 23 old MOTs, the current MOT valid until April 2024 recording no advisories
and a selection of magazines and Sigma alarm information.
A cracking looking little car with surprising poke, good comfort
and a striking colour scheme on offer at an appealing estimate.
