Description
Retro-styled JDM car built for one year only based on the 1st Gen
Toyota Yaris; 1.3 automatic; unusual and rare to see in the UK with just 19
registered
Dating from January 2001 this quirky
little car is a Toyota Will Vi and is based on a first generation Yaris and was
designed by the Virtual Venture Company as a retro styled car aimed at a younger
demographic not thought to be covered by Toyota’s main range and was built
between 2000 and 2001 only.
The unusually angled rear window was
designed to embrace the Neo-retro look as previously seen on the Mazda Carol,
Citroen Ami and Ford Anglia of the 50s and 60s.
Finished in silver the car rides on its original wheels and under
the bonnet we find the familiar Toyota Yaris underpinnings with the engine being
the 1.3 litre 2NZ-FE four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels via
four-speed automatic transmission.
Inside the
funky cabin, we find brown cloth bench seating in the front and rear with column
mounted gearshift, although rear space was not considered commodious as a result
of the rear window design.
We did note the
paint finish is not brilliant in some places (see images) but on the whole the
car looks solid and ideal as a daily commuter or a ‘use and improve’ quirky
little car with rarity on its side, research suggests just 19 are registered
here.
The history file includes the V5C revealing just one former UK
keeper to the current since import and registration in the UK in June 2021, the
Japanese owner’s manual, 1 old MOT, current MOT valid until March 2024 at
143,301 miles (a mix of miles and KM) recording no advisories, Japanese service
history book and Haynes Toyota Yaris manual.
