1974 BMW 2002
Potential base for conversion
to a turbo replica; Euro spec LHD model; manual and non-sunroof;
interesting example driven regularly by our vendor after many years in
storage
Dating from 1974 this 02 series BMW was
the forerunner to the 3-series which replaced it in 1975 in E21 form and is a
European spec car originally from Verona, in Italy.
Finished in Polaris Silver, this left-hand drive example comes to
us in desirable 2002 guise, featuring the 1,990cc M10 four-cylinder engine
driving the rear wheels via manual transmission.
The car has been with our vendor for the last year, being owned by
his friend prior to that who had been unable to use the car through the
pandemic. Their plan had been to
turn this car into a 2002 Turbo replica (with turbo) but it just hasn’t got
there, so, instead, he’s just used and enjoyed the car over the last
year.
This cool coupe shows 7,425Km which we
assume to be at least 107,425Km the car having worn its age and Km well, the
interior tidy with blue vinyl seats and the exterior tidy bar the obvious
corrosion to the leading edge of the bonnet as seen and pictured. That aside, the car looks solid in the boot,
which is a common problem area and underneath too, so much so in fact, the
current MOT valid until April 2023 shows no advisories at all even though it is
of course exempt.
In addition, the history file
includes the V5C revealing three former UK owners to our vendor, also confirming
the car was imported and registered in December 1999, an old V5C, older style V5
from the first UK owner, user manual in Italian and service book revealing four
old stamps from 1975-1981.
The file also
includes a selection of old bills for parts, information on the car’s origin
from BMW Group, six old MOTs and old SORN docs.
Ready to be enjoyed and driven 50 miles to the sale, the car makes
an ideal base to be used, restored or even perhaps turned into a Turbo
replica as the vendor had intended – that’s up to you.
