1989 Austin Mini Thirty
Astounding one lady
owner from new; showing just 6,797 miles from new; one for the collector; ideal
investment opportunity
Supplied new by The
Desborough Motor & General Engineers Ltd of Northants in August 1989, this
dazzling Mini Thirty is one of the few limited Editions built to commemorate
Mini’s 30th birthday in 1989.
Hailing from the Austin MKIV of Mini era, between 1984-1990 there
were various special editions in this era, part of the London collection which
saw sales rise over the MkIII as a result and Austin/Rover opted to keep it in
production as long as they could despite the Metro’s ‘allure’.
Finished in Pearlescent Cherry Red, this
Thirty sits on its diminutive 12inch Minilite style alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the familiar
inline four cylinder B-series 1,275cc engine driving the front wheels via
four-speed manual transmission.
Inside, we find
black vinyl and cloth seats with Mini Thirty labels/branding piped red with
matching red leather steering wheel rim too.
The car shows just 6,797 miles which have been covered by just one
lady owner from new, and no surprises, the car looks like it could have just
left the showroom having been in professional storage for many
years.
The history file includes the old style
V5 confirming one owner (Experian also confirms), the owner’s pack and service
book recording two stamps at 414 miles in February 1990 by the supplying dealer
and the second in January 1992 at 1,352 miles again by Desborough Motor Ltd.
We also find the radio user guide, SORN
notices, original purchase invoice for £5,098 dated 1st August 1989
including part exchange with her Metro and three old MOTs from 1997 at 4,223
miles, 2003 at 6,453 miles and in 2005 at 6,765 miles.
The
current MOT is valid until September 2023 recording no advisories, the first MOT
since 2005. Ready to be enjoyed, or most likely,
tucked away for investment, it’s a strong example for sure.
