1993 Volkswagen Corrado 16v
Sexy 90's Corrado
coupe with 2.0 16-valve engine; little recent use; new heater matrix and rear
callipers, driven 170 miles to the sale- Investment Alert!
Supplied new by Drift Street Garage Ltd of Epsom, Surrey in
November 1993 this retro-boxy 90’s-cool Corrado coupe is finished in Green pearl
and sits upon a set of after-market 15” five-spoke alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet of this example, we
find the 2.0-litre 16-valve inline four-cylinder petrol engine which makes
134bhp and 180NM of torque driving the front wheels via five-speed manual
transmission, giving this cool coupe a zero to sixty time of c.9.3 seconds which
was about the same as its in-period 2.0-litre rivals.
Inside, we find 2+2 seating in grey cloth with black dash, the spec
including electric mirrors, electric windows, electric tilt and slide sunroof,
heated rear screen, front fog lights and Pioneer radio/CD player. Buyers please
note, the sunroof is stuck in the ‘tilt’ position with the passenger side part
of the mechanism looking reluctant to move and we were unable to operate the
rear spoiler from the button.
The car shows
120,342 miles which is supported by the accompanying history file including the
V5C revealing five former keepers to our lady owner of four years, the owner’s
pack and service book which records 14 service stamps inc. PDI, the last stamped
service being at 91,932 miles in October 2009, a note suggesting the timing belt
was renewed then too.
Furthermore, the file
also includes a few sundry bills and seven old MOTs along with the current valid
until February 2023 which recorded no advisories. The MOT history reveals the
car to have covered little mileage since 2015, only c.2,000 in fact. Our vendor
tells us that despite the limited mileage covered, she has fitted a new heater
matrix, replaced the rear brake callipers, rear brake pipes and electric cooling
fan during her tenure and it was driven 170 miles by her to the
sale.
Evidently crying out for some regular
use, these Corrado’s are particularly fashionable at the moment and this
one could be turned into a really good example with relative
ease.
