Tidy little 3-door 1.4 litre Campus Prima
that's been in storage for the past 5 years showing just 39,717
miles
Dating from January 1995 this late model,
2nd Generation Renault 5 comes in minimalist Campus spec and shows
just 39,757 miles, coming to us from storage following the passing of the
owner.
A rare sight and utterly charming, this
three-door Campus Prima model hails from the final two years of production (a
long run, dating right back to the earliest 1st Gen Renault 5 launched in
1972!) and is finished in red, retaining its original 13” steel wheels with
plastic hubcaps. Inside, we find
grey cloth trim, manual wind-up windows, rear wash wiper (cost option at £127!),
original radio/cassette and er, that’s it.
Delightfully and typically simple in ethos, design and use – its partly
why the 5 is so lovable – no frills motoring at its best.
Under the bonnet, we find the later 1,390cc fuel injected C3J MPFI
four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels via five-speed manual
transmission. Starting promptly, the car felt cheery and eager as we moved it
around for these images and short videos.
The
history file includes only a partial V5C, so the buyer will need to apply for a
new V5C either online, or via the required DVLA form and payment of £25,
original purchase invoice from Dutton James Ltd for £6,066 (inc. 6m road tax and
extended warranty), the owner’s pack with books and service book revealing five
stamps plus one hand-written entry, the last dating from February 2014 at 37,608
miles by Llandudno Garage with invoice included for a lube service, small weld
patch to the NS inner sill, new alternator belt and MOT.
A couple of other sundry invoices are also included from the same
garage, the most recent in Feb 2016 for an MOT and replacement front exhaust
pipe at 38,992 miles. In addition, we find two old MOTs and VOSA MOT history
printout which shows a gradual increase from 30,024 miles in 2006 until its last
MOT in February 2016 as mentioned above.
The mileage now shows just 39,757 miles as stated, the car having come
out of storage and now in need of a fresh MOT.
Bar a couple of bits of paintwork requiring some cosmetic attention
and a crusty lump on the sill as pictured, this low mileage four-owner R5 is a
rare thing these days and oozes both appeal and rarity – on offer at No Reserve
so the highest bid takes it home.
