1982 Land Rover Series III
88in Series III
with petrol engine; 57,000 miles showing
Probably
the most useful Series Land Rover to own, a late 88-inch Station Wagon provides
the smallholder, countryman or city dweller a practical and fun machine.
The
Series III was introduced in 1971, running through until 1985 when it was
finally replaced by the coil sprung 90.
This
useable handy petrol-powered Landy was first registered in July 1982. Our vendor
bought the car recently from a deceased estate and the relatively low mileage is
believed to be correct. It was seen in a barn, the owner, who had only sparingly
used it for days out shooting, was having an unleaded head fitted. Sadly, when
purchased, the head was still off, but all is now where it should be along with
a new distributor fitted and it seems to trundle along pretty
well.
Looking
like a genuine practical late Series III, it is of course MOT exempt and was
last put through a test in 2015. Relevant advisories can be seen online.
The
bills on file all seem to relate to getting the car back on the road for use in
c.2011 after a likely ‘stood still’ period before
that.
