1980 MG Midget 1500

Smart, late model 1500 in desirable triple black with 1500 power; very usable and lots of fun

In our vendor's hands for the last 11 years, this late model Midget hails from the final year of production and boasts the proven 1500cc Standard SC engine as seen in the Triumph Spitfire. Retaining its black rubber bumpers, they work well here matching the black coachwork, black centered Rostyle wheels, black vinyl hood and matching black vinyl interior.

Presenting well, with good shiny paintwork, clear windows to the roof and Eurometric tyres with lots of tread, it looks ready to be enjoyed, starting promptly and running as it should as we moved it around the these shots and video.  Evidently the subject of recent restoration, the history file contains the a hand-written note from the vendor suggesting the car to have been restored by him through 2017-2020 and included fitment of new wings front and rear, new sills, a new hood, new interior, new brake cylinders, shoes and brake pipes, a new fuel tank and new lights, the V5C and a selection of bills for parts purchased during this time.

The odometer shows 12,862 miles which we assume to be 112,862 given they roll over at 99,999 miles, although the last recorded MOT in 2005 suggested a mileage then of 12,591 miles since when the car looks to have done very little.

The car looks excellent value given the recent upwards trend of Midgets with their proven reliability and usability mixed with great fun factor. A tidy and usable car throughout.
