1991 Nissan Figaro
Recently enjoyed at our
vendor's wedding; cutesy Japanese Kei-car styling with punchy turbocharged
engine; engine fully rebuilt in 2017
Dating from
1991 this attractive little Figaro is finished in Lapis Grey representing
Winter, of the four colours available representing the four seasons,
with contrasting beige leather interior piped grey and clever manually operated
retractable vinyl roof.
Under the bonnet we find the punchy 1.0 litre
(987cc) turbocharged four-cylinder engine as found in the JDM Nissan March
developing 75bhp and a useful 105Nm of torque driving the front wheels via
3-speed automatic transmission giving surprising performance.
In our
vendor’s hands since earlier this year, it was the bride’s desire to be driven
to and from her wedding in a Figaro, a duty it performed admirably much to the
Groom’s relief! Prior to the current ownership, the car’s last lady owner
enjoyed the car for some 10 years. This example features the highly desirable,
and now valuable Clarion Figaro "The 2" radio/CD player and also hard-to-find
cup holders (usually fitted to the Limited-Edition version).
The history
file for this cutesy Japanese Kei car includes the V5C revealing four
previous owners and import/registration in the UK in May 2003, instructions on
raising/lowering the roof in Japanese, an old V5C, additional old style V5, and
host of routine parts and maintenance invoices dating back to its early years in
the UK at c.63,000Km in 2004 raising steadily to the 140,857Km indicated (87,524
miles).
Recent invoices on file show a £1,778 spend in April 2017 on a
complete engine rebuild including new rings, main bearings, head set, timing
belt kit and also welding for the MOT by SD Motor Repairs of Pershore and in
2014 £630 was spent on welding to the sills, a replacement fuel tank,
replacement window switches and replacement rear axle assembly (parts supplied
by customer)
In addition, the file includes a purchase invoice dated May
2003 post import for £4,495 at 50,493Km to our first UK owner (other than the
supplying dealer) and at least 14 old MOTs plus current, valid until June 2022
with just one minor advisory recorded for wear to the OSF tyre.
