1998 Porsche Boxster (986)
Earlier 2.5 with
manual 'box showing just 87,603 miles in lovely order with sports seats
and desirable colour combination
Supplied new
by JCT600 Porsche of Leeds in June 1998 this earlier 986 series Boxster features
the popular 2.5 M96.20 litre flat-six engine, producing 201bhp, enough to give
it a respectable 0-60mph dash of 6.7 seconds with 5-speed manual transmission as
we find here.
Finished in highly desirable Zenith Blue (L3AX), this smart
example has been with our owner since December 2014 and has been cherished. The
option codes in the front of the service book, replicated under the bonnet
reveal the car to be well optioned, and includes a stronger battery (197),
illuminated vanity mirrors (274), 2-way electric sport-seat L & R (375,
376), CD compartment (424), 3-spoke steering wheel (436), 6-speaker sound system
(490), wind deflector (551), automatic A/C (573), front centre console (581),
storage box (584), on-board computer (659), leather dashboard and door-panels
(981) and Graphite Grey (CG) leather seats (983).
Showing just 87,603
miles the car presents well, the paintwork very good with but a few minor marks
commensurate with its age, the 17inch twist wheels in good order as
is the light grey hood - slightly faded but intact with clear rear Perspex
screen. The hood folded away neatly as it should, the car starting and running
well as we moved it around for these images – the car having been driven to us
from North Shropshire.
Within the history file, we find the V5C showing
the previous owner resided in Eniskillen, Northern Ireland (hence the
registration) purchasing the car in 2007 (although older documentation confirms
the car to originally have resided in mainland UK as with the supplier stamp in
the service book), old style logbook showing 3 previous keepers to a current of
2002 and sundry invoices for parts and service work from a few years ago.
In addition, we find 11 old MOTs dating back to 2001, and an advert
listing from 2014. Within the owner’s pack, the service book reveals 10 service
stamps 9 by Porsche main dealers and a further 3 hand-written service entries,
the last in September 2019 at 85,468 miles for a basic lube service plus a
further 4 stamps for brake fluid changes – the last in 2012 at 69,865 miles and
4 further stamps for Porsche’s record of long-life condition report – the last
in 2003 at 39,191 miles. The current MOT is valid until April 2022 with a few
minor advisories to consider, but nothing we think too worrying.
A smart,
earlier 986 with enough performance for most in a desirable colour with nice
options, manual ‘box, sensible mileage and an appealing estimate.
