Description
1965 Sunbeam Alpine GT Series V
Older
restoration in very sound order; mohair hood; desirable GT spec with overdrive;
Minilites; a very usable example, well restored some years
ago
Registered in November 1965, this 1,725cc Series V Alpine has
had six owners in total since then. Invoices on file date back to 1984, when the
car clearly spent some time living in Spain.
Sixteen old MOTs show that
it has covered fewer than 7,000 miles during the last 24 years. The
odometer tripped over the 100,000 mark in 2003, the car now showing 105,000
miles in total which is thought to be correct, although its MOT history only
dates back to 1996 so we cannot be entirely sure. It has a current MOT until
February 2021 with no advisories listed.
There are bills on file back to
1984 and the car has clearly had a thorough restoration in the past which the
vendor believes to have happened about 15 years ago - it has certainly worn
well, the underside of the car remaining particularly clean and
sound.
Work carried out over the last few years includes adjusting and
overhauling the steering, new top ball joints, removing the sump and checking
the bearings etc and resetting the oil pump as well as numerous other small
jobs. Eearlier this year, a further £200 was spent overhauling and tuning the
carburettors.
The history file also includes an old style blue logbook
and a workshop manual.
Fitted with a black mohair hood and complete with
a smart interior, this car looks extremely well presented and exhibits none of
the usual areas of corrosion found on Alpines of this period.
