Description
2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK320 Special Edition
(R170)
Limited edition finale version of this generation SLK
with unique spec, registration and a pokey 221bhp 3.2 V6 under the hood
Supplied new, in the final year of the popular R170's production this
attractive 3.2 V6 SLK Special Edition dates from April 2004 and is finished in
desirable Cubanite Silver, one of seven colours available for this run-out model
and sits on optional extra 17inch multi-piece twin spoke wheels which really set
the car off well.
Inside we see automatic/tiptronic transmission, (unique
to the SE) contoured, ribbed charcoal Nappa leather sports seats with electric
adjustment, brushed aluminium trim, silver instrumentation, cruise and speed
limit function and chrome capped Special Edition embossed gear knob in addition
to climate control with air conditioning.
The car has been in our
vendor's hands for the last 3 years seeing regular use, covering some 20,000
enjoyable miles until the COVID-19 lockdown, since when it’s not seen much use
at all. Showing just over 96,500 miles the car looks to have worn it well with
only some light wear to the driver's bolster consistent with age/mileage and
some dulling of the paint on the boot, no doubt a good mop would cure that.
Within the history file we see the V5C, owner's pack and service book
with an impressive 10 stamps including Final Inspection. The first five are all
by MB, the following five by Independent Specialists with the most recent being
in November 2019 at 92,501 miles a reputable local MB specialist. Invoices on
file dating back to 2009 show the car has received regular maintenance including
a new battery in May 2020 at a cost of £108.60, repairs to the front of the car
after a rogue badger caused some damage one night in Malvern carried out by
Mercedes of Cheltenham using new parts in March this year costing some £3,800
covered by the vendor's insurance.
In addition the car was treated to
four new Pirelli tyres in April 2019 costing £440, the aforementioned major
B-service in November 2019 costing £564 which also included a brake fluid change
and new plugs, a new alternator and belt in February 2018, a gearbox service in
October 2015 along with other service receipts, brochures and at least eight old
MOTs. The current, clean MOT runs until November 2021 which bodes well.
A
rare and desirable Special Edition that's made even more appealing by virtue of
its registration plate which is included in the sale, SE04SLK - 'Special Edition
2004 SLK' - not bad hey!
