Description
Only 62,100 miles with plenty of service history; just three
owners in the last 23 years; reluctant sale due to illness; one of the nicest we
have seen
First registered in July 1990, this
gorgeous XJS V12 Convertible comes with a good file of invoices to show regular
upkeep over the last 20 years or so. It has covered only 62,100 miles to date,
backed up by no fewer than 22 old MOTs on file.
Finished in bright Artic Blue Metallic it looks very nice indeed with
lustrous paintwork and no real blemishes that we could spot. It has an
electrically operated blue fabric hood with a heated glass rear window which
works as it should. The original fitted tonneau cover is also
present.
The Barley hide interior looks equally
good with minimal signs of wear and lashings of polished burr walnut trim. The
leather extends to the heavily bolstered sports seats, door cards and centre
console. The seats are both heated and electrically
adjustable.
Being a pre-facelift model, it
retains the quartet of aircraft-style barrel gauges situated between the
tachometer and speedometer. These sit behind the daintier pre-airbag two-spoke
steering wheel. It also has the optional armrest-mounted Nokia car phone which
sits in its special recess to make receiving calls from your broker all the
easier.
It rides on a set of the original
Lattice 6.5J x 15 light alloy wheels date stamped from 1989. These are in an
excellent condition and finished in silver with gold Jaguar centre caps, shod
with a matching set of quality Pirelli P600 tyres. Fitted with a body-coloured
spoiler on the boot, it also has after-market rear parking sensors which work as
they should.
Behind the seats is a carpeted
luggage shelf with a lockable valuables chest built-in. The commodious boot
retains its original tan carpets. A pristine-looking full sized spare wheel and
tyre are secured to the rear bulkhead. The original wheel-changing kit is also
present, along with a full tool kit in its original attache
case.
The impressively clean and tidy engine bay
houses the magnificent 5.3 V12 mated to the 3-speed Hydra Matic automatic
transmission which is famous for its silky ‘waftability’ with huge reserves of
power on tap when required. The underside appears
reassuringly straight, solid and free from leaks underlining the lightly used
nature of the car.
Although there is no service
book, there are plenty of invoices for routine upkeep and from 2008 – 2017 it
was regularly serviced by Uckfield Garage of East Sussex, being maintained by
the Surrey Jaguar Centre prior to that.
Our
vendor acquired the car via a Bonhams auction in August 2024, the previous owner
having owned it for six years and the one before that for 16 years (2002 –
2018). Our vendor has loved owning this car and tells us that it drives as well
as it looks. Sadly his declining health has forced him to part with the car much
sooner than expected.
Supplied with an MOT until
20th June 2025 with no advisories recorded, it has been starting
instantly and running beautifully as we have moved it around on site, with
healthy oil pressure.
One of the nicest we have
seen, this luxurious XJS Convertible will be a fantastic way to waft around in
the long hot summer that lies ahead of us.
