Description
Many upgrades including
3.5 V8 and 5-speed gearbox; 270bhp at the flywheel; uprated brakes and
suspension; massive history folder; bonkers exhaust note; driven 150 miles to
the sale; blow those cobwebs away!
First registered in March
1980, this super-cool TR7 has a few tricks up its sleeve, not
least the 3.5 V8 slotted under the long, low bonnet. Mated to an LT77
five-speed gearbox, the V8 has a four barrel Edelbrock carb with a ported
head and tubular exhaust manifolds going into a 2.5-inch exhaust system.
A dyno sheet shows that it makes 270bhp and boy does it
sound fantastic!
The previous owner
refurbished the 3.08 rear diff, installed GAZ shock absorbers at the rear and
new KYB struts on the front with lower and stiffer springs all round,
accompanied by a smattering of polybushes. It has beefed up AP front brakes with
larger rear drums, all the flexi brake lines being uprated in braided
stainless steel.
Riding on a set of sporty
5-spoke 15” Compomotive alloys, this TR7 was treated to a full repaint in
the late '90s, when it presumably also got the aggressive flared rear
arches.
Inside the cabin we find GSM
bucket seats with Sabelt harnesses and a whole slew of gauges to monitor all the
vital functions. In March 2024 a new hood and frame was fitted,
the carpets all look virtually new too and very recently our vendor has
slapped a new battery on.
It comes with
a vast file of invoices for work carried out and new parts fitted,
including a reconditioned steering rack in June 2019, new front wheel
bearings in March 2019 and loads of other bits and bobs plus routine
service items etc. Although MOT-exempt, it has a
current MOT valid until 24th August 2025, with just one advisory, and it was
driven over 150 miles to the sale. Looking back through the MOT history the
odometer reading of 29,929 miles looks to be accurate, taht is at least from
2006 when the online records began.
Running and driving nicely as we
have moved it around on site, this TR7 looks to have been maintained to a
very high standard, with enough power to blow your wig off! On offer here
at far less than it would cost to build, it also has an exhaust note to wake the
dead...
