Lot Ended
Description
Absolute beauty; owned and loved by our vendor since 1980; only
one previous owner; just how we like them!
As
you might imagine, we get to see a lot of Moggies at Brightwells and we
have sold dozens over the years. However, this Traveller really stands out
from the crowd - just look at it!
First registered in February 1971, it
has had just two owners from new and has been in the current ownership for 45
years. At the time of writing we unfortunately had no paperwork with the car
other than the V5C as the vendor is unwell, but it has clearly been
much-loved and no doubt restored at some point - we think it was repainted about
eight or nine years ago and the paintwork still gleams beautifully today. The
ash frame looks equally good.
The 1,098cc engine
purred along smoothly when we drove it around on site, although the battery
needs a good charge due to lack of recent use. The interior is equally
smart and has a few upgrades, such as the oil and water temperature gauges under
the centre of the dash plus a radio and a couple of additional
switches.
Although it is now MOT-exempt, an
online check of the MOT history shows that it has been tested every year since
at least 2006, with very few advisories. The last test took place in April 2023
which was another clean pass and it has only covered 600 miles since. The
odometer now shows 18,760 miles and it seems to have been re-set to
zero in c.2005 so this is perhaps when it was
restored.
Stickers in the back windows
suggest that it has attended various owner's club events in recent years,
including a tour round Brittany in 2017. If any additional paperwork turns up we
will amend the website accordingly.
In the meantime, we encourage you to
come and see it for yourselves. Every bit as good as it looks in the photos, it
is on offer here at a modest guide price and will be much admired wherever it
goes.
