Description
Recently restored and uprated; Ford 1,300cc crossflow engine, gearbox
and back axle; Weber carb; electric fan; disc brakes; wide wheels with Toyo
tyres; super condition throughout
First registered in
Worcestershire in August 1968, this wonderful Austin Light Van has had seven
owners from new and shows 75,356 miles on the clock. Our vendor acquired the van
in June 2021 at which point it had been in storage for 30 years or
more.
He set about a full
restoration which included new floors, sills, wheel arch sections, bonnet
hinges, door seals, windscreen and quarter-light rubbers etc, followed by a full
repaint in BMC Persian Blue.
The brake system was fully
rebuilt and uprated with discs at the front and new copper pipes throughout. The
suspension was also fully rebuilt and uprated with telescopic shock absorbers.
The original 1,098cc engine was replaced with a Ford 1,300cc
crossflow unit, plus gearbox and back axle. Other features include a Weber 32/36
DGV 5A carb conversion; electric cooling fan; new headlights, tail lights and
indicators; later front seats; wider wheels with JBW Smoothie hub caps and shod
with a new set of Toyo 175/70/13 tyres.
As you can see in the photos,
this van is in really super condition, both above and below, and has been
starting promptly and running very nicely indeed as we have moved it around on
site.
Tastefully modified and uprated, it can easily keep up with modern
traffic and will turns heads wherever it goes. It could be returned to standard
spec fairly easily if desired - but why would you?
