Engine upgrade to 1275cc, new fuel tank and disc brakes
recently fitted; runs and drives
As the Heritage Certificate
confirms, this little Frogeye Sprite was built in 1960 and was
originally Iris Blue, being dispatched to Car Mart Ltd of
Ealing.
With 12 former keepers
and over 100,000 miles, this Healey has led a busy life but arguably that’s
no bad thing: old cars need to be used regularly and each new owner usually
makes a few improvements during the honeymoon period shortly after buying a
car.
The bodywork has had some wear
over the years, as to be expected, but this is a running driving car with
the last recorded MOT done in late 2021 showing just one advisory for a small
oil leak.
We understand it has had an
engine upgrade to a 1,275cc unit, although there is no evidence of when this was
done, making it slightly sportier than a standard 948cc Sprite. The V5C still
states 948cc so that should be amended at some point.
In addition, disc
brakes have been fitted to the front and it has also had a new fuel tank. There
are countless invoices for general maintenance over the years, before and during
annual MOTs.
Hood and Side Screens are
also stashed in the back so if you are the hardy type, there is no reason why
this Healey couldn’t be used all year round.
