Only 2 miles on the clock and an absolute stunner
This stunning
Mini City E was treated to a total nut-and-bolt rebuild during the early-'90s by
a former Longbridge employee who ran a business selling ‘new old stock’ Rover
parts, a business that allowed him to undertake his dream of building his very
own brand new Mini.
Acquiring a low mileage 1989
G registered Mini as a starting point, the builder of this car set about
stripping it to a bare shell and replacing absolutely everything with genuine,
age-correct new old stock parts. This included a brand new 998cc crate engine,
suspension, interior, wheels, wiring – you name it, everything is
new.
The logbook is of course for the original
October 1989 car to avoid been registered on a Q-plate. It shows six previous
keepers, two are believed to have been from the original car, one from the chap
who built it and the next three all collectors until it came into our vendor’s
hands in the summer of last year.
The history
file has lots of invoices from Austin Rover for the crate engine, wheels and
tyres, carburettor, suspension components, fuse box and other bits and bobs
including the wiring harness, lights and more. Most recently we have invoices
for new mats and boot carpet in December 2024.
What makes this Mini particularly remarkable is the fact that it
shows only two miles on the odometer. Since it was rebuilt it has been kept on
static display by various collectors and has never seen a drop of rain. It was
submitted for an MOT in August last year and flew through with no advisories, as
you would expect.
Looking absolutely superb and
as good underneath as it is up top, this fantastic Mini starts on the button and
would make a fine addition to any collection.
