Beautiful

surviving; Fully restored over the past six years; an excellent addition to any
Fast Ford collection
This MK2 Ford Escort
Harrier was first registered in January 1980 and is one of just 1,500 made to
commemorate Ford's victory in the 1979 World Rally
Championship.
Only two colours were available,
1,000 in Diamond White (as here) and 500 in Strato Silver, the flat front and
rubber rear RS spoiler combined with the unique three-tone blue body stripes
helping to distinguish the Harrier models.
Other
special features included Recaro front seats; sports steering wheel; quartz
clock mounted in the centre console; front quarter bumpers; Triplex bronze
tinted glass; black door mirrors and handles; halogen headlamps; auxiliary
driving lamps; rear spoiler; heated rear window; padded sun visors and Aeroflow
ventilation with eyeball vents.
Running and
driving nicely on site, this rare Escort comes with a good-sized history folder
with invoices back to the 1990s. There is little in the way of details of recent
expenditure apart from an invoice for a rear axle and gearbox overhaul by Nutts
Performance Classics in February 2018, our vendor tells us that a full engine
rebuild took place at the same time and he is currently sourcing an invoice for
this work.
Whilst The engine, gearbox and axle
were out of the car getting rebuilt and refurbished our vendor took on the not
so small task of restoring the body and underside, whilst we have no invoices
for this work it is clear to see it was done to a good standard, every part of
the car has been touched with no expense spared, our vendor tells us that that
panels were replaced or repaired where possible, the engine bay was repainted
and the underside clearly received its fair share of love and
attention.
It shows just 2,618 miles on the
odometer, however, there is a slight mileage discrepancy in the MOT history in
2008 when the mileage drops from 2,222 to 1,833 miles. The last MOT took place
in June 2019 where it passed with no advisories and the car has only covered 73
miles since.
Owned by our vendor for the last ten
years, he has covered just 500 miles in his ownership and believes only 200
miles have been put on the car since the engine and gearbox rebuild in
2018.
Presented in superb condition and as clean
underneath as it is up top, this fabulous Ford would make a great addition to
any collection. It is thought that only around 30 Harriers survive worldwide so
you are unlikely to see another for sale soon, let alone as nice as this
one.
