Description
Just four
owners from new, the current since 1982; restored at a cost of £10,000 in 1994
and only 5,500 miles since; overdrive; recent new brake discs, calipers and
tyres; a super Herald at a modest guide price
First registered in
Devon in September 1970, this super Herald 13/60 has had just four owners from
new, our vendor acquiring the car from a London gent way back in 1982 when it
had covered just 32,200 miles, according to no fewer than 35 old MOTs on
file.
In 1993, when the car had covered 65,300 miles, it was sent to
Triumph specialist Chic Doig of Kirkcaldy for a full restoration which took nine
months to complete and cost just shy of £10,000, a big enough sum today, let
alone 30 years ago.
The full extent of the work carried out is far too
detailed to list in full here but is amply covered in many invoices on file, the
bill for parts alone coming to over £4,000. Rest assured, it was a very thorough
job.
Since the restoration was completed, the car has only covered some
5,500 miles, the odometer currently showing 70,800 miles. Always kept garaged
when not in use, it has been MOT tested by the same garage in Shrewsbury every
year, usually flying through with no advisories. The current ticket is valid
until April 2025 and also has no advisories – classed as a Historic Vehicle, the
car is of course now MOT-exempt and free to tax.
Barely driven at all
over the last 20 years (sometimes only for its annual trip to the MOT station
where it was also serviced when required), it had new front brake discs and
calipers in April 2022 and a new set of Firestone tyres in 2018.
As you
can see in the photos, it still looks good today with nice shiny paintwork, a
lovely red interior with a walnut dash and MotaLita steering wheel, seat belts
front and rear and desirable overdrive gearbox.
Starting promptly and running
sweetly as we have moved it around on site, this much-loved Herald is on offer
here at a very modest guide price and is only reluctantly for sale due to the
advancing years of its long-term owner.
