Lot Ended
Description
Split screen 948cc beauty; same family ownership since 1982;
substantial restoration between 2015 and 2020 costing more than £24,000; used in
the TV series 'Sorry' with a copy of the script included
First registered in
Liverpool in 1954, this four door Morris Minor had a number of recorded keepers
up to the 1970s before becoming part of our vendor's family in 1982. In fact, he
learnt to drive in it aged 13!
The logbooks on file list
almost all owners over the years, although all other history is post 1982, which
was when it featured as one of three Morris Minors in the TV series ‘Sorry’
starring Ronnie Corbett. A copy of the script is included in the file, with
annotations allegedly made by Mr Corbett himself. The original, we understand,
is available through separate negotiation.
A few invoices on file record
quite a few panels being replaced or renewed in the 1980s, although the
substantial work on the car all started in 2015 when it was completely
disassembled, stripped down and chemically dipped by Staffordshire
Minors.
Over the course of the next
five years, extensive welding was completed, panels were replaced and the 948cc
engine was recorded as being rebuilt. The lovely Dove Grey leather interior was
fitted, the chrome work was renewed, the wheels were shot blasted and powder
coated and the list continues, before work was completed in 2020, the bill for
this lot coming to over £24,000. Once finished, it looked very much like it does
today.
Recently put through an MOT
which showed no advisories, this is a well-sorted, perfectly useable split
screen Morris Minor showing just over 32,500 miles.
