Description
On offer from a deceased estate; useful Light Car; nice and original;
for light recommissioning following a period in storage
The
smaller Humber cars of the 1920s represented the epitome of upper middle-class
expectations and every successful doctor, broker or bank manager aspired to the
cachet of this solid and respectable marque.
Typical of the breed was
the delightful 9/28 of the late 1920s. Powered by a 1.1-litre inlet-over-exhaust
four-cylinder engine, the 9/28 was beautifully made and trimmed. “A luxurious
and comparatively large car which, with an engine rated at only 8.3hp, is
capable of over 50mph,” was how Light Car & Cycle Car summed it up in a
contemporary road test.
On offer here from a deceased estate, there is
sadly little information on this nicely presented tourer, the car having been
purchased by the vendor's late husband in 2021.
It remains in lovely
original condition, with a super blue leather interior and brown vinyl hood in
sound usable condition.
The leather seats are dusty, but would clean up
beautifully and it has had four new Longstone Triple-Stud tyres fitted in the
very recent past.
The engine turns freely and has compression, so we
suspect a new battery and some fresh fuel will have it running again.
For
the growing family, this proper Vintage tourer offers plenty of space, a quality
drive and lots of fun to be had.
