Description
Fully restored between 2015 and 2017 and lightly used since;
overdrive; electronic ignition; just serviced; ready to enjoy
First registered in April
1972, this pretty MGB Roadster had been off the road for many years when it was
acquired by the previous owner in May 2015. Over the next two years he treated
the car to a full restoration, as detailed in many invoices and photos on file.
This included fitting various new panels and a bare metal respray in
a lovely shade of dark blue. The engine was also stripped and rebuilt with new
bearings, piston rings, water pump, clutch kit etc. All other mechanical aspects
were rebuilt as required and it also got a new hood, exhaust, chrome bumpers,
interior retrim plus much else besides.
Our vendor acquired
the car from Former Glory of Thame in April 2017 and has improved it
still further and continued to look after it well, as documented by invoices on
file.
In May 2018 he sent it to Midland Classic
Restorations of Ombersley for a thorough check-over and service which cost
£1,218. This included replacing various pipes and hoses, fitting electronic
ignition and giving it a good tune-up.
The car
has subsequently been serviced and MOT’d by Brian Wilkes Motors of Bridgnorth,
the last service being carried out in October 2023, when it also flew through
its MOT with no advisories recorded. It has only covered some 60 miles
since.
Classed as a Historic Vehicle on the V5C,
it is of course free to tax and MOT-exempt. The V5C erroneously records it as a
GT but the GHN chassis prefix confirms that it is, and always has been, a
Roadster (the GT has a GHD prefix).
Kept garaged
in the current ownership and used in fine weather only, the vendor reports that
it starts easily, drives well and maintains good oil pressure and temperature.
It has certainly been behaving itself very nicely as we have moved it around on
site, with healthy 55psi oil pressure.
As you can see in the photos,
it looks very pretty indeed, the only real blemish we noted being a small area
of microblistering on the o/s front wing (as
pictured).
