Lot Ended
Description
From 'The Clive Webster Collection'; owned since 2011; showing just
9,330 miles; overdrive; hard top and soft top; very impressive
example
First registered in April 1981, this stunning Roadster
was supplied new by Springhead Garage in Oldham to the first owner for
£4,526. He kept the car until 2000 when it passed to a second and then to Clive
Webster, who acquired the car in 2011 for £12,250.
At that point the
car was advertised as only having covered 5,000 miles and was featured in
Classic Car Mart and other magazines. In fact, in CCM it was described as
representing: "The closest you’ll get to a brand new factory-fresh B and
immediately shows just why the MGB has been so popular for so very
long".
Finished in Vermilion red with
a grey and black trim, it is equipped with overdrive, folding hood, hard top,
tonneau cover, hood cover and a wood-rim steering wheel (original also
present).
The mileage seems to be
genuine and as one of the last built, it was most likely tucked away inside
somewhere for the first 15 or so years of its life. The first recorded MOT on
file shows 1,551 miles in 1998 and most others are recorded right up until 2018
at 8,769 miles.
The overall condition certainly reflects the low mileage
too, although due to the illness of the owner, it has not been used recently so
may need some light recommissioning. The engine certainly turns but we have not
had it fired up while on site.
Owned by an absolute MG
enthusiast and from the same stable as the previous lot in the sale, our
vendor certainly knew his onions, having worked at Abingdon
himself.
Offered here at no reserve
from a deceased estate, the highest bid takes it
home.
