Description
One of the last chrome bumper factory V8s; Blaze orange; extensively
restored; nice and original with a spare set of wheels; driven to us for the
sale; overdrive; lots to like....
Delivered to Henlys in
Bristol from the factory in late August 1974, this chrome bumper factory-built
V8 BGT is thought to be from the last batch of 75 built before the new
rubber bumper models were introduced.
It was painted Blaze, a real period
colour that suits it very well with black trim and retains its original Bristol
registration number.
It lived in Devon in the late 1970s, an old
style V5C listing its owner as a Mr White of Braunton who was its registered
keeper from 1979 until 2007 (a period of 28 years) at which point it
moved to nearby South Molton having been sold for £1,350.
Its price at
the time reflected its condition and a thorough restoration commenced, taking
from 2008 until 2012. Multiple receipts are on file along with a photo album
showing new sills, inner and outer wings, boot floor etc, all carefully stripped
and repainted in its original colourway.
Suspension, brakes, stubaxles
etc were also rebuilt at this time, along with telescopic shocks, clutch,
waterpump etc etc - a comprehensive restoration.
The vendor acquired
it in 2017 and has enjoyed it sparingly since, fitting new tyres (including the
spare) and parabolic rear springs (the correct spec originals are in the
boot) along the way. One of too many cars in his garage, he has decided to
downsize somewhat and this is the car he has used the least.
It is
fitted with a decent set of original V8 Alloy wheels plus a spare set acquired
just in case. It has been regularly MOT'd, its current no-advisory ticket
expiring in October 2024 showing just 500 miles covered since
2018.
