Description
Fantastic example from 22 year ownership; believed to have been
restored with a Heritage shell; removable factory hard-top; superb in all
respects showing just 72,376 miles with only c.350 covered in the last 22
years
Dating from January 1972 this beautiful
little MG Midget hails from what many consider to be the peak of Midget
production, the chrome bumper/round wheel arch era (1972-1974) and is
finished in shining red with removable black factory hard-top sitting on 13”
wire wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the
familiar 65bhp de-tuned Cooper ‘S’ four-cylinder A-series engine with the 12G490
cylinder head and 8.8:1 compression giving 72lb ft of torque driving the rear
wheels via four-speed manual transmission.
Inside, we find a comfortable and nigh on unmarked vinyl interior,
black carpets and the odometer showing just 72,376
miles.
This lovely example looks so good because
we are told it has been restored on a new Heritage shell and completely rebuilt,
bought for our vendor by his doting wife in May 2001 since when it has remained
carefully stored in a bubble, covering only c.350 miles during this
time.
The history file includes the V5C recording
four former keepers to our man, manual; 15 old MOTs dating back to 2000 at
71,661 miles and also the DVLA ownership history confirming the number of
owners, and their ownership periods (3rd and 4th owner same
person)
The car looks to want for nothing other
than a service and check over following its time in storage and lack of use,
followed by some regular use with the club show season just around the
corner.
Certainly one of the nicest MkIII’s we
have offered.
