Description
From a deceased estate; from long-term heated storage; new fuel pump;
running and driving but needs recommissioning; solid body with sound arches;
rare Bentley version; privacy rear quarter lights
This Bentley T1
was ordered towards the back end of 1966 by H R Owen, London for a Mr. J Evan
Cook who chose Regal Red as the exterior colour with off-white Connolly
leather and piping. The carpets were Cherry Red and he specified rear quarter
windows in 'Double Shadow Light Glass' for extra privacy and 'full
refrigeration'.
An early car with the rare
and desirable "Chippendale" dash much sought after by collectors, the V5C
shows four previous keepers and it came into the hands of its previous
registered keeper in 1990 with 94,335 miles on the clock. He was to keep it
until 2003, adding just over 3,000 miles.
Its new owner, now deceased,
added just 800 miles before putting it away in heated storage. The total showing
on the odometer is now 98,256 miles.
Although Rolls-Royce and Bentley
cars of this era tend to benefit from regular use, the upside is that this one
has spent most of the last 30-plus years tucked indoors in dry
conditions and it shows. The bodywork is very solid, with good wheel arches,
although there are a few blemishes as shown in the photos but nothing too
serious.
It has been exhumed from storage and is now up and running
thanks to a new fuel pump. The brakes function , but not as they should, so it
will need a bit more recommissioning before hitting the streets once again. The
interior is smart, although the seats have been re-Connollised, and the majority
of the woodwork has fared well.
The original brochures from 1966 and
1967 are a nice touch and it comes with its original tool kit with most of the
contents present.
Not a great deal of work is required to push this
well-loved car over the line. It has loads of potential at the modest guide
price suggested. The icing on the cake is the cherished number, TIA 1967, which
is included in the sale and suits a 1967 T1 Bentley
perfectly!
