Description
Hard
top and soft top; well-presented car; 23,500 miles on recon engine; lots to
like
Probably
the easiest classic car to own thanks to the abundant supply of new parts and
the model’s inherent reliability, an MGB also offers a fair turn of speed and a
fast cruising-gait thanks to the overdrive unit as fitted to this Roadster in
the sale today.
One of the
last chrome bumper Roadsters to leave the factory in 1974 before the heavier
rubber bumpers made their debut later that year, this March 1975 registered car
must have hung around for a while in the showroom before finding a new owner. It
comes with a large file of invoices and bills showing care and maintenance over
the years.
Two old
style logbooks show that by 1978 it had enjoyed four owners, its fifth, a Dr in
Liverpool was to keep it until 1982. Its sixth owner, Mr Tyler of nearby
Warrington was to keep it for the next 32 years, selling it to its current
registered keeper in 2015. It has had a total of seven registered
keepers.
Mr Taylor
kept his invoices, which show that he spent freely, fitting a reconditioned full
engine in 1986 at 74,500 miles, a stainless exhaust in addition to the general
servicing. The reconditioned engine now has 23,500 miles under its
belt.
The MOT
history online suggests a long period of hibernation, the car emerging in 2016
for a no advisory MOT after some recommissioning. It also
comes with a handbook and workshop manual.
Presenting
well both inside and out, the bodywork appears sound, the zingy orange
paintwork looks good and it is fitted with a silver hardtop that’s in great
condition - the car also comes with the standard soft top.
This sound
“B” looks like an ideal way to enter the world of classic open-top MG ownership
without breaking the bank.
