Engineer-built 2CV-based three-wheeler; good spares package;
economical classic motoring at its most fun
Registered on the V5c as
a Pembleton Grasshopper, this funky three wheeler first hit the road in 2002,
using a 2CV donor car for its engine, gearbox and suspension.
Its
engineer-owner built the car nicely, saving you all the hard work and has
enjoyed it immensly, including a trip to the South of France. He rebored the
engine, fitted new pistons and ported the heads which has perked it up no end we
are told.
It has been running and driving onsite, although bidders are
advised that it has not seen any use for a year or so due to ill health and will
need some recommissioning, including a new rocker cover gasket which is leaking
quite a lot of oil so it can't be driven away from the sale.
The car
comes with a decent spares package, including a spare engine, gearbox and
brakes, plus multiple small items and a useful 2CV Haynes
manual.
It's last MOT expired as recently as late May this year so
with the most minor of fettling it should be ready for the road.
These
Pembletons come as nicely made kits, and this one has been well
assembled into a Grasshopper. Offering 60+mpg and a surprising turn of speed
from just 602ccs, it looks like a lot of fun for little outlay, with low ongoing
running costs too.....
