Description
Owned by our vendor for a considerable time; extensively restored in
1988 and is still very presentable
First
registered in July 1965 after being dispatched to Triumph dealers, Halls of
Finchley in London, this TR4A was originally presented very much as it is now,
with the signal red body, black interior, 60 spoke wire wheels, overdrive and a
fitted heater. All confirmed on the heritage certificate included in the
file.
We understand that it has had relatively
few owners over its lifetime, four until 1986, two short term keepers until the
following year when it was purchased for £2,450 and was subject to substantial
restoration to pretty much the form that you see today. Our vendor acquired
the car in 1998 and appears to have sensibly cared for it
since.
The work in the '80s (at approximately
41,000 miles) is recorded on file with invoices and photographs. It shows the
engine out and almost every panel being removed, repaired and recommissioned or
rebuilt. Chassis was repaired where necessary, the interior was
restored/repaired and it was of course repainted with a new hood fitted too.
There are numerous bills on file detailing the rebuild, costing in the region of
£15,000 - and that was in about 1990!!
Since 1998, it has been part of a small private collection and has
been maintained ‘in house’ so although there are no recent invoices, it does
look like it has been well loved and cared for. It was used fairly regularly
until being put into dry storage about four years ago.
During the last month, it has been prepped for sale, with fresh
fuel, a clean of the tank and lines, plugs, points, checking of fluids and the
carburettors cleaned and rebuilt. Sitting
on decent quality Michelin tyres, this TR4A is
now ready for a new collector since our vendor lost his storage facility
recently.
