Epic looking Wrangler with Khan/Chelsea Trucks interior/exterior
upgrades - eyeful of a machine with go-anywhere ability
Wow, this is some truck.
Whether you like it, loathe it or are simply curious, there’s no
denying its an eyeful of a vehicle.
Given the
full visual enhancement treatment by Kahn aka The Chelsea Truck Company this
September 2007 Jeep Wrangler is certainly much more of a truck than it was when
it left the factory in Ohio 16 years ago.
Finished in black this JK-Generation of Wrangler is a long-wheel
base ‘Unlimited’ spec Sahara model powered by the 2.8 litre VM Motori RA 428
diesel engine which in stock spec develops 160bhp and 400NM of torque driving
all-four wheels via four-speed Ultradrive automatic transmission and also boasts
a removable front roof panel.
The truck as we
find it and mentioned has been treated to a Khan/Chelsea Truck Company
enhancement with five 20” Kahn alloy wheels finished in black shod with
impressive 275/55 R20 Radar Renegade R/T+ tyres (worth around £500 each we
gather), a suspension lift, quad exhaust tips and sports back-box, snorkel, ‘Old
Man Emu’ 4" suspension lift system (inc. new shock absorbers, new springs, adj.
panhard rod and steering damper), a Winchmax winch with after-market winch mount
bumper, roof bars, JBL light surrounds and side bars.
Inside the cabin, we find Kahn branded orange and black diamond
quilted leather seats/interior (a £5,000 upgrade alone we are told) carbon fibre
steering wheel, orange Chelsea Truck Company gauges and unique load area
structure. We are also told the
Jeep has been re-mapped as part of the conversion, and although it feels and
sounds rather potent we do not have any paperwork to support
that.
The car shows 145,490 miles yet appears
in beautiful order inside and out belying the age and miles having clearly been
very well cared for and was driven to the sale from North Shropshire by our
vendor.
The history file includes the V5C
recording seven former keepers, the owner’s pack with service booklet (within
the owner’s manual) showing four stamps, the last at 68,416 miles in 2015 plus
10 old Mots, the current Mot valid until July 2024 with no advisories, Old Man
Emu fitting instructions and a file of bills for general maintenance
including a service kit from May 2023, replacement rear discs and pads in 2022
and timing belt service in 2017.
There are no
bills for the conversion to Kahn/Chelsea Truck Company spec although our vendor
has tried, they tell him they cannot access historic invoices without approval
of the name on the bill (not much help to a new owner) so we do not know when
the Jeep was upgraded or the full extent of the upgrade spec let alone the
eye-watering cost.
That aside, it looks a
monstrous beast and looks exciting value at the guide given – the icing on the
cake, inclusion of the private plate shown.
