Description
Recent major service including new clutch and full brake overhaul; in
regular use; LPG conversion; ready for more adventures
The Bedford CF
was introduced in 1969 as a direct competitor to the new Ford Transit and soon
became one of the most popular light commercials on British Roads, remaining in
production right up until 1986. One of the most popular versions was the
Dormobile which had a campervan body made by coachbuilder Martin Walker of
Folkestone.
First
registered in August 1973, this Dormobile has the 2.3 slant four petrol engine
and was converted to run on LPG fuel in 2009 for enhanced economy when required.
It is showing 58,760 miles on the clock, 11 old MOTs showing that it has been in
regular use, covering some 16,000 miles since 2008. Classed as a Historic
Vehicle on the V5C it is now free to tax and MOT-exempt, the last MOT having
expired in July 2022 with no advisories recorded – nor has it had any advisories
since 2008 apart from a headlamp main beam and screen washer fault in 2021
(since rectified).
Our vendor acquired the
camper in 2021 and spent over £2,000 on a major service which included a new
clutch; full brake system overhaul; new radiator hoses; fan belt; rocker cover
gasket; starter motor; battery; spark plugs; HT leads oil filter etc.
As you can see in the photos, it is packed
full of the all the kit you need for life on the road and is clean and tidy
inside. The underside and campervan body appear commendably solid although there
is a fair amount of corrosion emerging around the door
bottoms/door apertures of the front cab section.
Driven some 40 miles to the sale, it has been starting promptly and
running well as we have moved it around on site, with good 50psi oil pressure.
The bed in the back folds out to a double and two more people can sleep on the
bed behind the front seats although this is more suited to children than
adults.
