Description
Super exciting Evolution VI RS showing just 9,000 miles from a private
collection; purchased by the vendor in 1999 in Cyrpus
Dating from February 1999 this rather epic looking Mitsubishi
Lancer Evolution VI RS is finished in White with period Ralliart and
Mitsubishi graphics and sits upon a set of 17” Enkei WRC Tarmac Evo five-spoke
alloy wheels and really looks the business.
Under the bonnet, we find the 2.0-litre 4G63 turbocharged
four-cylinder petrol engine which develops (officially, and when in stock tune)
276Bhp and 373NM of torque driving all four wheels via five-speed transmission
offering blistering performance and handling thanks to its rally-bred driveline
and lineage.
As an RS spec car, it features the 'minimal interior' option
with more comfortable 'standard' non-Recaro seats, manual wind-up windows, AC
delete, fitment of the optional Brembo brakes, rally suspension, 1.5 way rear
LSD instead of AYC, shortened close-ratio five-speed transmission and as
mentioned the Enkei alloy wheels.
This example
shows just 9,000 miles and has been with our vendor since he purchased it in
Cyprus in 1999 when it had covered just 1,800KM. What followed was somewhat of a
tumultuous outcome, which is well documented within a separate history file.
The car had been stolen in Tokyo and come via
Dubai to Cyprus where our vendor unknowingly purchased it. A four year court case then ensued, our
vendor getting the police involved back in the UK and finally it was settled
after the car had been inspected and imported, with the car successfully UK
registered and purchased off the Japanese Insurance company who officially owned
it until that point. The Cypriot
deal reversed (because the selling dealer didn’t have title) and funds
refunded.
Finally, the car was in the clear and
our vendor owned it officially in late 2003 and registered it here in early 2004
when the replacement vin plate was affixed and speedo converted at c.2,000Km
(1242Km) to miles, thus the car has covered an indicated 9,046 miles (more like
8,242) and has been enjoyed on a limited dry summer use basis
since.
On offer in what looks like excellent
order, the car would likely benefit from use, with the fuel pump audible
when moving the car around.
The history file includes the V5C, one
old Mot, the current Mot valid until July 2024 with no advisories, the file
relating to the theft/recovery/purchase etc and some photos of the
car.
A rare opportunity to acquire what must
surely be one of the lowest mileage, un-modified Evo VI’s left with a colourful
history that’s been kept in a bubble and used very lightly in the last 20 years
by it sole UK owner. Investment Alert!
