Description
Smart example with punchy turbocharged Isuzu engine; huge history file
including 20 main dealer stamps
Supplied
new in Glasgow in March 1991 this interesting Lotus Elan SE Turbo is an M100
series finished in red, with contrasting black Mohair hood and sits upon its
original 15” alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet, we
find the 1.6-litre Isuzu based four cylinder turbocharged OHC 16-valve engine
driving the front wheels via five-speed manual transmission. Given its lightweight GRP body,
performance was brisk as a result with sixty coming up in just 6.5
seconds.
Inside, we find comfortable grey
leather seats with red flash across the middle, heated seats, immobiliser, Sony
face-off CD player, electric windows, electric mirrors and manually operated
roof.
The car shows 119,168 miles which is
comparatively low for an M100, so user friendly were they and presents very well
bar a crack in the windscreen which happened enroute to us we are told. The car started and ran as it should as
we moved it around for these shots and video, feeling tight, lythe and nimble,
sounding good too.
The history file looks to be
considerable with the V5C revealing 11 former keepers to the current of two
years, the owner’s pack with service section which records 20 stamps, the last
in December 2013 at 76,817 miles by The Murray Motor Company, Lotus main dealer
who carried out all 20 stamped services.
The
file also includes the Lotus extended warranty booklet, the 8-year
anti-corrosion guarantee , some 16 old MOTs, a padded envelope with headlamp
motor repair kit within (a common issue, although these look to work correctly)
considerable number of bills for parts and maintenance works undertaken dating
back at least 20 years, Cobra security details and spare fob and the current
MOT, valid until December 2023 which recorded no advisories which bodes well for
the next owner.
