Classic Plus 8 3.9 with loads of spec; two owners; 47,500 miles;
factory centre-lock alloys; huge history file; Connaught green
This
2000 Plus 8 incorporates all of the significant upgrades that were made to
the traditional Morgan over the years.
Post '97 cars got longer doors,
which made getting in and out just so much easier and by then, the Plus 8
had already gained a galvanised chassis and a strong scuttle roll bar as
standard. From '97 onwards they also got a stainless-steel bulkhead and
stainless inner wings as standard, a real boon as the old steel items had a
short shelf-life.
New from '97-on too were the superb SuperForm alloy
wings. Cars prior to this had wings made of sections welded together, be they
steel or aluminium, which were prone to cracking, had a steel wired edge which
was a terrible trap for corrosion and needed keeping on top of. The
new Superform items were made using the very latest technology which
moulded hot sheet aluminium under air pressure over a male wing form.
This produced panels with a superb surface finish onto which were bonded
U-Section edges instead of the troublesome wired-edge. These wings were a huge
success.
This 2000 model incorporates all of these features and was
ordered via LibraMotive in London for its first customer. He chose Connaught
Green as the colour with blue Autocalf Leather uphostery. The car now carries a
green Mohair Simmonds hood and a leather hood cover which is easier to use than
the factory supplied item.
Other options include a walnut dashboard,
organ-type accelerator pedal, map light, front spots, luggage rack, Moto Lita
steering wheel and Morgan's own-design 16" centre-lock alloy wheels.
This
one has covered 47,500 miles in the hands of just two keepers. The first owner
was to keep the car until 2006 when it passed on to the current registered
keeper.
The Service book is very impressive, showing no fewer than 18
stamps, with either Mogan Dealers or several Morgan Specialists. The last
service was undertaken by New Elms at 45,942miles in March 2021. A year
before, New Elms had undertaken a valuation for insurance purposes which
commented that 'this is a very well cared for example and in above average
condition for its age and mileage'.....
It carries a no advisory MOT
until May 2024 and is ready to enjoy.
