Description
Nicely restored with various choice upgrades; Toyota 5-speed box;
triple SU carbs; LSD; 4-pot brakes; stainless steel sports exhaust; new Stayfast
hood
As the
Heritage Certificate confirms, this MGC Roadster was built in June 1968 and was
originally finished in Snowberry White with a black interior. A RHD car with
overdrive, wire wheels and a heater, it was destined for the South African
market.
Nothing is known of the car’s
subsequent history but it has clearly been restored to a high standard at some
point in the not-too-distant past, with many choice upgrades. These include:
Toyota Supra 5-speed gearbox; Salisbury limited slip diff; triple SU carbs;
6-branch stainless steel sports exhaust; electronic ignition; high torque
starter motor; K&N filters; Aeroquip hoses; stainless steel fuel lines;
uprated 4-pot front brake calipers; polybushed suspension; negative camber kit;
76-spoke 6”J wire wheels; Moto-Lita steering wheel; walnut dash and door
cappings; chrome luggage rack; new Stayfast hood.
Our vendor bought the car while he was living in South Africa and
shipped it back to the UK (with all duties paid) when he returned here in 2017.
It flew through its MOT in May 2017 with no advisories recorded, since when it
has only covered around 800 fine weather miles. Invoices show that various new
parts have recently been fitted including a sports coil, leather gearknob,
rubber window seals, brake and clutch master cylinder seals etc. The vendor
believes that all the panels/structure are original and have not been
welded/repaired due to the dry climate in which it has lived. The V5C records it
as a Historic Vehicle so it is free to tax and MOT-exempt.
Starting promptly and running beautifully as we have moved it
around on site, with good 40psi oil pressure, it looks absolutely wonderful with
just a few very minor paint blemishes here and there. A white works-style
hardtop is also available by separate negotiation if
desired.
Gamely entered at no reserve, this
lovely and sensibly uprated MGC is here to be sold so the best bid takes it
home.
