Desirable,
later model in Highline spec with heated electric seats; hand-stitched leather
and huge history file inc. 31 service stamps driven 170 miles to the
sale
Supplied new by Prophets Garage of Solihull,
West Midlands in September 1988 this E24 Generation of classic BMW 635CSI is
finished in Alpine White, and sits on a set of original polished X-spoke alloy
wheels wearing period correct Michelin TRX tyres and what a treat it looks
too.
Under that sharknose bonnet, we find the
brilliant 3.4-litre M30B35 inline SOHC straight-six cylinder petrol engine,
which, as a late model car (1987-1989) produced 220bhp and 310NM of torque
driving the rear wheels here via four-speed ZF 4HP22 automatic transmission with
Sport, Economy and 3:2:1 manual mode).
This
example hails from the final years of production, and as such is the desirable
Highline spec featuring extended hand-stitched leather covering all surfaces,
dash top, binnacle, door tops and even the head lining is leather – a special
and very comfortable place to be offering seating for four.
In addition, we find electric windows front and back, electrically
adjustable heated front seats with driver’s memory, electric sunroof,
Check-control panel, trip computer, air conditioning, head lamp wash/wipe,
heated rear screen, rear sun blind, Kenwood radio/CD player, front fog lights
and complete tool kit in the boot.
This lovely
example shows just 119,867 miles and was driven some 170 miles to the sale by
its enthusiast owner without a hiccup.
Our vendor has enjoyed the car for the last 18 months plus, covering
2,500 miles in this time.
The history file for
the car is considerable and includes the V5C recording five former keepers, the
owner’s pack and service book revealing an impressive 31 service stamps (inc.
PDI and running in check both by Prophets Garage), the last two by Staines
Service Centre during our vendor’s tenure at 117,508 miles in May 2021 and at
118,924 miles in May 2022 respectively.
The
file includes a second ever arch folder containing the vehicle’s service history
invoices arranged in chronological order dating back to the late 90s including
the most recent service bills (which also included fitment of a replacement
blower motor and brake pads) a new battery in June 2021, and a £1,563 spend at
Blue Bell BMW, Crewe in May 2014 on new leads and other ignition system items
plus replacement cylinder head gasket and viscous fan couplings in 2001 by
Sytner BMW at 106,008 miles.
The file also
includes many old MOTs in addition to the current MOT, valid until November 2023
recording just four minor advisories (enter the reg at
check-mot.service.gov.uk), radio user manual, spare keys and period sales
brochure.
A most complete, undoubtedly well
cared for desirable later model with considerable history, low ownership and the
right engine – one to watch, use and enjoy and very much a proper Modern
Classic.
