1964 Jaguar Mk II 3.8 MOD
Matching numbers car
that runs and drives; requires bodywork TLC; PAS; the model to
have
Purchased by the vendor in 2000, this UK-supplied full-fat RHD
3.8 MOD comes with its original engine installed and has been running about the
site since arrival.
The car was in pristine condition at the time of
purchase, and Jaguar specialists CMC looked after care and maintenance - with
bills on file to show work done.
A change in circumstances saw the car
remaining unused for a few years and then loss of storage led to a period
outside in less than ideal conditions.
Photos on file show a bare metal
pre-2000 restoration, which sadly is required once again, the lower panel work
showing deterioration. The vendor recently took the car back to CMC who issued a
detailed list of jobs required to get it back on the road. They submitted it for
an MOT which it failed with an impressive list of jobs for which their repair
estimate totalled some £3,400 - not actually that bad given their hourly
rate...
For the skilled amateur, this could be done for a lot less and
for someone with welding and paint skills, represents a suberb opportunity to
return this potentially valuable car back to splendour.
It comes with its
original buff logbook showing it was first registered to The Amalgamated
Roadstone Corp in London on 24th March 1964 and then living in Gloucestershire
in the early 1970s.
The JDHT have confirmed it retains its matching
numbers engine, making the project even more appealing at the modest guide price
suggested.
If you are going to spend time and effort on a restoration
project, one should always start with the ultimate expression of the model in
question, which this car undoubtedly is.
