1966 Morris Minor Traveller
Just two owners
and 35,100 miles from new with history to prove; nicely patinated and ready to
enjoy
What a charmed life this
Moggie must have led! It was supplied new by Linden Garage of Maidenhead,
Berkshire, in August 1966 to a local gent, Mr M Barton, who was to keep it for
the next 46 years. During this time it only covered 33,000 miles, as evidenced
by no fewer than 52 old MOTs on file.
A good few invoices
show routine upkeep over the years, the only bill of any note being from 1989
when the faithful Moggie underwent some light bodywork restoration which
included new rear wings and jacking points, plus localised repairs to the front
wings and the floorpan for the princely sum of
£608.
When Mr Barton died in
2012, the car was inherited by his godson (our vendor) who has also looked
after it well, fitting a recored radiator in 2013 and using it only lightly, the
odometer currently showing 35,131 miles. Garaged throughout its life, the car is
said to be a reliable first-time starter with a rot-free timber frame. Although
it no longer needs one, it has an MOT to April 2023 with no advisories recorded
and has been starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it around on
site.
Supplied with its original
green logbook, the car also retains its original driver’s handbook and Passport
to Service book, an original Morris Minor sales brochure, an unused book of fuel
ration coupons, a Haynes workshop manual and a set of white-on-black number
plates. It also comes with a few useful spares and an indoor car cover. The
Minor 1000 badge missing from the front left side of the bonnet is also present
but needs a new fixing lug before it can be attached
securely.
The lowest mileage Morris
Minor Traveller that we have ever offered, it has a pleasing patina and now only
needs a caring third owner who can continue to preserve it for future
generations to enjoy.
