1953 Austin Champ
Stunning example; ground up
restoration; just 12,875 miles from new; now UK registered after living
in Holland since de-mob in 1967; snorkel; tools; spot lamp; ready to go and
show
This splendid 1953 Combat Spec Champ was finally de-mobbed from
the British Army in 1967 and would have been used in communications - being
fitted with a MASSIVE 24volt dynamo to run various radios etc.
In
line with the MOD requirements at the time, the engine (and electrics) were
fully water-proofed and this one retains the rare snorkel and water-proofing
throughout.
It comes fully equipped too, with its
original Gerry can (for water), pick and shovel, rare demountable
spot light, Pyrene extinguisher, jack and correct duck-boards on the
floor.
It also comes with a full hood and side-screens (as photographed)
and is extremely well-presented in all departments.
It left Blighty
in 1967, moving to Holland. Photos on file (undated) show a total ground-up
restoration, a proper nut and bolt job which was done some time ago and has
mellowed very nicely. An MVT National Show 'Runner Up' certificate from 2006
suggests it was restored prior to that.
It has recently had a brake
overhaul and the vendor confirms working lights, vacuum wipers and that all
of the levers do what they should (ie five speed
reverse!).
Now UK registered 789 XVW, is ready to show
and we think you will struggle to find a nicer one.
