2004 Jaguar S-Type R
No Reserve
Potent
400Bhp 4.2 supercharged example showing just 53,916 miles that's seen little use
in recent years with scope to improve
Supplied
new by Guy Salmon Jaguar Ltd of Surrey in January 2004, this eye-catching S-Type
R comes to us in the most potent spec available in the day.
The car is powered by the supercharged 4.2 litre V8 engine with
Eaton M112 Supercharger which helped it develop 400Bhp, similar to that of the
XKR Coupe and XJR saloon. Power
went to the rear wheels via six-speed automatic ZF
transmission.
The car was designed to compete
with the Mercedes E55 AMG, BMW M5 and Maserati Quattroporte (also in our sale
incidentally) and fared well in this esteemed company.
This example is finished in a super hue of metallic blue and sits
upon its original 18” five-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, we find black leather sports
seats with electric adjustment, touch-screen in-car entertainment, digital
climate control with AC, original radio/CD player, sunroof, multi-function
steering wheel, trip computer, automatic lights and cruise
control.
The car shows just 53,916 miles but
has seen only limited recent use, particularly during the pandemic. As a result of this, and a weak battery
the car shows a couple of warning lights relating to the release of the
electronic handbrake and to the CATS adaptive damping (although this second one
was intermittent during our photography and videography) however the car appears
to drive normally with considerable power.
The
history file includes the V5C revealing just three former keepers to our vendor
who has enjoyed the car since October 2007, the owner’s pack and service book
recording eight stamps, the last in December 2021 at 53,899 miles by Bewdley
Auto Services. Furthermore, we find
a few sundry bills for works undertaken including a £746 spend in December 2020
including one new tyre, new rear tie rods, a wheel bearing kit, pair of track
rod ends, pair of rear anti-roll bar links and service.
In addition to the two old MOT certificates, the current MOT
remains valid until March 2023 and records 16 advisories. Enter the reg at
check-mot.service.gov.uk to have a good look, much of which looks related to
having seen little use such as the perished tyres amongst other
things.
On offer at No Reserve, this is a
powerful, fast and now rare car with a low mileage and scope to improve and
enjoy.
