Supplied new by Reed Ford main dealers in August 1996 this MkVI Ford Escort comes to us in desirable five-door hatch back LX guise and is finished in a lovely hue of metallic blue and sits upon its original 14” steel wheels with Ford hub caps.

Under the bonnet, we find the 1.6 litre fuel injected four-cylinder Zetec petrol engine which develops 90bhp and 134NM of torque driving the front wheels here, via three-speed automatic transmission.

The car presents well, and was driven to the sale, no surprise given it shows just 31,981 miles.  Inside, we find two-tone grey cloth seats, radio/cassette player, heated rear screen, heater controls, digital clock and electric front windows.

The history file includes the V5C recording just two former keepers to the current lady owner (the last keeper had it 25 years!), an old V5Cwith the first being Natwest Bank plus purchase invoice dated August 1997 at £9,995. We also find an old style V5, the owner’s pack and service book revealing 14 stamps, the last, an interim service in May 2021 at 23,176 miles by Avonside Motors of Evesham.

Furthermore, the file includes a replacement automatic transmission in May 2006 by Torquay Transmissions costing £900, replacement cambelt and service in September 2019 at 18,794 miles plus other maintenance bills including for the most recent service and a replacement rear wheel bearing in June of this year.  We also note three old MOTs plus the current, valid until May 2023 recording just two minor advisories.
