Description
1973 Triumph TR6
Original UK market example
with CR Vin# from long term ownership in smart order with removable hard-top;
electronic fuel injection upgrade with fruity Pheonix stainless exhuast
system and unleaded head
Dating from September
1973 this tidy later, ‘CR’ prefix TR6 is finished in Carmine Red and comes with
useful a hard-top.
Being a ‘CR’ Vin~ we know the car to be an original
fuel injected car, which has been upgraded to include electronic fuel injection
rather than mechanical which many will see as a useful
bonus.
The car has been with our vendor since
September 2009, a good 13 years during which time he has enjoyed it during the
summer months.
The electronic fuel injection
was installed in March 2010 and features a Megasquirt 1 V3.0 ECU, Ford ignition
amplifier and coil pack, 36-1 trigger wheel including mounting on the front
pulley, a new crank sensor, a custom fuel rail, Weber fuel pressure regulator,
Weber throttle position sensor and hardware, a Ford Mondeo/Focus MAF and then
fitment of a new stainless Pheonix header and exhaust system to complete the
work along with four hours on the dyno at a cost of £2,280 carried out by Bailey
Performance Ltd of Shropshire.
The results from
the Dyno sessions indicate 150Bhp at 6,000rpm and 135.9lbft of torque at 3950rpm
- Pretty good we’d say.
The file also reveals
the TR6 was fitted with Jenvey air horns in 2010, a new oil cooler kit, Kenlow
fan kit and Lumenition Magnetronic electronic ignition was fitted in Feb 2010
ahead of the above works to, at a cost of £917 by Oselli of
Witney.
The file contains a considerable number
of other invoices for parts and works undertaken including a £2,540 spend on a
strip out, removal and replacement of floors and sills in November 2002 by TR
Bitz. The engine also looks to have been converted to run on unleaded fuel in
April 1999 again by TR Bitz, who also replaced the outriggers in March
1997.
We also note a purchase invoice dated
March 1997 with an indicated mileage of 43,612 (the car currently shows 69,558
miles) and at least 12 old MOTs dating back 10 1997 along with the owner’s
manual, V5C and old style V5.
Ready to be
enjoyed this looks to be a most usable TR6 with useful hardtop, lots of history
and some sensible upgrades for the modern world and
reliability.
**AMMENDMENT** - The TR6 has Overdrive in 3rd and
4th
