Appealing, supercharged manual face-lift example in Avantgarde spec from long term ownership in good order, driven 60 miles to the sale

Dating from December 2001 this face-lift Mercedes W208 generation of CLK was purchased new via Biemond & Van Wijk Mercedes of Aalsmeer, Netherlands by its first Scottish owner and comes to us in 200 Kompressor guise and Avantgarde spec.  Finished in dark Blue with blue Mohair hood the car sits upon its original 16” seven-spoke alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet, we find the supercharged (Kompressor) 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing between 163 and 190 bhp (depending on the variant) driving the rear wheels here, via rarer to find six-speed manual transmission.

Inside, we find grey leather seats with dark wood trim, electric windows, electric mirrors, electric folding soft-top with heated rear screen, ESP (electronic stability programme), two-stage heated front seats, electric driver’s seat base, dual zone climate control with AC, on-board computer, multi-function steering wheel, original Mercedes Audio10 radio/CD player and cruise control.

The car has worn its 131,518 miles well and was driven to us from the South Cotswolds by the vendor who has enjoyed it for the last six years, purchasing it off his best friend who owned the car since 2014.  The history file includes the V5C recording six former keepers, the owner’s pack and service book revealing 11 stamps, the last in October 2016 at 115,201 miles by Blueboys Garage plus a further two in a second garage pamphlet booklet from 2010 and 2012.

In addition, the file also includes the CoC, original alarm installation certificate from the supplying Dutch dealer and UK import duty bill from January 2002 for £4,364, a swathe of bills for parts and routine maintenance including purchase of a new soft-top lockout switch in June this year at a cost of £346 and new air mass sensor in January-22 plus annual service in February-20 along with ten old MOTs alongside the current, valid until March 2023 which recorded no advisories.
