1986 Mini 1000 City Auto
Loads of goodies
fitted; fun auto; just 52,600 miles from new; a very smart
example
First registered in August 1986, this Mini City would have
started with a modest spec. At which point its owner went to town we
don't know, but they have certainly been busy adding loads of extras making it
the Cooper lookalike you see here today.
The additions we can see
are through the grille spotlights, flared arches and Revolution-style alloys, a
repaint (non-standard colour we think) plus a chequered flag on the roof and on
the inside, a full dashboard including an oil pressure gauge, clock and rev
counter. There is a radio CD unit and also a sporty steering
wheel.
Fortunately, whoever has done this work invested their time and
effort on a very nice example, the car remaining commendably rust free with
excellent sills (which are colour matched underneath to the car). The doors fit
well and it has clearly had lots of detailing under the bonnet, including a new
brake master cylinder, what looks like a recent radiator and a Mini spares inlet
manifold.
The no advisory MOT runs until 2023 and the car shows 52,608
miles - unsubstantiated, but we see no reason to disbelieve. These Autos are
great fun to drive, having four speeds and a very responsive change and handle
like a go-kart.
If you drive around town and want to be first away from
the lights, this sweet little Mini looks ideal, or as a first car
maybe?
