1997 Mazda 323F ZXi V6
No Reserve
Uber
rare manual ZXi spec 323F with 2.0 V6 engine in super order from 20 year
ownership ready to be enjoyed with glass sunroof, A/C and considerable
supporting history
Supplied new by Canterbury
Mazda of Canterbury in August 1997 this appealing and really rather
rare Mazda 323FZXI (also known as the Lantis in Japan) is finished in
Classic Red (SU) and sits upon its original 16” five-spoke alloy wheels (this
version was the only one to feature 5-stud wheels) with neat body-coloured boot
spoiler the 323F still looks sharp, purposeful and compact.
Under the bonnet, we find the rarest engine option available on the
323F, the 2.0 litre KF DE-V6 24-valve petrol engine developing 147bhp driving
the front wheels through five-speed manual transmission undoubtedly making this
‘the driver’s choice’ of the 323F range.
Inside, we find two-tone grey/blue cloth seats (BJ7) with manual
adjustment and grey dash/trim with a very 90’s feel. The spec features electric
front and rear windows, electric glass tilt and slide sunroof, electric mirrors,
front fog lamps, heated rear screen, air conditioning, digital clock and
retro-fit JVC radio/CD player.
The car shows
109,815 miles and looks to be in good order given its age/mileage with but a few
marks commensurate with that. We did note what looks like a small repair patch
under the driver’s side sill and some paint fade on the rear passenger door/rear
quarter panel but otherwise presents well, as does the interior. Bidders are
advised that the catalyst has gone AWOL which will need sorting before
presenting the car for its next MOT.
The
history file includes the V5C recording just five owners, the last for some
twenty years, the owner’s manual pack and service book revealing nine service
stamps, the last in July 2014 at 97,198 miles by Station Auto services, the only
non-main dealer stamp.
In addition, we find a ream of parts
and service invoices dating back 20+ years showing regular maintenance including
a recent service in June 2020 and alloy wheel refurbishment in July 2018 and
timing belt service in July 2007 at 76,039 miles, purchase invoice dated July
1999 at 21,352 miles for £11,500, old style V5C, VOSA MOT history print out,
five old MOTs and current MOT valid until July 2022 recording five
advisories (check online, enter the reg at www.check-mot.service.gov.uk).
The MOT history shows the car to have seen minimal use recently covering less
than 4,000 miles in the last four years.
A
properly retro manual, V6 saloon with rarity and style on its side – most
unusual and on offer at No Reserve so the highest bid takes it
home.
