1932 Austin Seven RN
Saloon
Attractive little Austin on offer from a
deceased estate; older restoration in sound condition
Living in
Spalding by the mid-'50s, this April 1932 registered RN saloon soon moved
south to Tring according to the buff logbook on file.
It remained
there until 1984, when it came into the hands of the current registered keeper
who sadly passed away last year.
We are told it is a year since it was
last running, so will require a new battery, fresh fuel and a bit of coaxing
into life, but it is an Austin 7 after all so how hard can it be? All factors
reflected in its attractive estimate.
John Brown motors fitted a complete
new clutch in 2016 at a cost of £645 and it has clearly had restorative works
over the years. The bright blue interior matches the lower half of the bodywork
and both doors open and close nicely. We are told that it was running when it
was last turned off....
As basic and simple as they are, there is nothing
quite like an Austin 7 for driver appeal, smiles per mile or low cost of
ownership. Throw in the Centenary celebrations this year and it is easy to
understand why they enjoy such enduring popularity.
